The Breakfast That Wasn't

For a while, I kept up a breakfast blog. I wrote about what I was having for breakfast and any adventures I was having. I found it fun to have this little hobby... until I didn't.

You see, I was getting embarrassed about taking photos of my food (I am not very good at taking photos) and then sharing them online. Then, there were the people that were asking me if I would put the meal we were having online. I felt... pressured! Finally, there was this meal. The one I will tell you about now.

I had just gotten back from a 10 day silent meditation retreat and were invited to friends for dinner. Except it wasn't dinner, it was breakfast. And it was really quite impressive.

We started with 'eggs' (scallops on mashed potatoes)...

...followed by 'bacon' (lasagna pasta in tomato sauce, on a stick), 'hash browns' (my memory is failing me... I think it was a crab cake?!), and veggies. There was also some sort of 'béchamel' sauce. How ingenious was all that?!

I took pictures and said that of course I would put it up on the blog. But then, I didn't. Who knows if it was my general interest in blogging that was waning (my number of posts had gown down over time) or the reflections that I had done over my meditation period, but over three years went by. During that time, I've: started a (second!) masters, adopted a dog, got married, had a baby, and bought a condo (see - I haven't been slacking ;-)

Here's a photo of Bea and me.
Taken by the same talented person who made the infamous dinner - Myriam Villeneuve.

Recently, we went on holiday to celebrate my grandmother's 90th birthday and present Beatrice (aka. Bea) to my extended family. While we were there, a few people asked me about the blog. Now that Bea allows me to have some time to myself again (by napping/sleeping in her crib), I had the urge to write again. Coincidentally, I got an e-mail from Google asking me if I wanted to keep up my subscription. It felt like a little nudge. So here I am, updating my blog and writing when I feel like it (and have the chance ;-). No pressure... right?!
